MGR Primary School

Under the Education Reviving Programme, MGR aims to construct and furnish many primary schools throughout Kashmir with the first one being in Hothla Village, Tehsil Dheerkot, Azad Kashmir. This will provide high quality free education to both boys and girls of primary school age. Hothla Village has been selected because it is one of the most deprived areas in Tehsil Dheerkot, District Bagh. The total population of this village is 420 with 240 children, 98 female adults and 82 male adults. This area is situated at high altitude experiencing severe snowfall in the winter season each year. The literacy rate amongst women and girls is very low. The only school in the region is 11/2 km away and serves 10 villages.

Aspects of sustainability, safety, local employment generation, skills development, multipurpose use of the building and accessibility of special needs children have ll been incorporated into the design.

This project will aim to achieve the following:

• Purchase 1,515 square metre of land
• Construction of one purpose-built Primary School
• Installation of all school furniture
• Formation of a School Management Committee (SMC) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
• Recruitment of teaching staff and setting of syllabus
• Enrolment of 45 primary school aged children of both genders
• Achieve a 25% increase in education of primary school aged children in the village
As part of this project proposal, MGR has conducted all the necessary consultations and research involving all the relevant stakeholders connected with this project, in order to make it effective in terms of implementation and operation.

Aspects of sustainability, safety, local employment generation, skills development, multipurpose use of building and accessibility of special needs children have all been incorporated in the project proposal.

Total Cost of MGR Primary School is £79,940

On completion of this Sadaqa Jariah project MGR will provide major donors with feedback, showing a plaque with your name (or of a loved one) and the location of the school.
