Pakistan Floods 2010
In 2010 Pakistan was hit by its worst natural disaster since 1929, with over 20 million people displaced and nearly 2,000 dead.

Estimates suggested that the floods affected more than 21 million people, including 3 million children, making this one of the most serious disasters in a generation.

While the number of deaths is was relatively small compared to large disasters like the Haiti earthquake and the Tsunami, in terms of the numbers of people affected and the ongoing impact, the scale of these floods was unprecedented, and there are larger challenges are ahead as well.

MGR Response to Pakistan Flood Victims
MGR’s work started at Village Makrri near Pateekha where the flooding first occurred and looked after the displaced people of Neelum Valley.

The displaced people’s sehri/iftaari was taken care of as well as providing shelter, clothing, cooking utensils and food rations. More than 600 people were looked after throughout the month of Ramadan.

MGR trucks of food, water, clothing, bedding and tents were supplied to various villages in Kashmir, NWFP, Punjab and Sindh.
