Background
Mosques are the centre of any community where people can congregate for their five prayers and Friday congregation sermons. A mosque serves as a place where Muslims can come together not only for prayers, but for information, education and meetings.
Since the 2006 Tsunami until the Pakistan Floods of 2010, hundreds of Mosques have been either totally demolished or very badly damaged, resulting in communities being deprived of such an important institution in their village.
MGR Activities
MGR has to date built a mosque at Ghari Habib Ullah, in District Balakot, Kashmir, with a further two in construction – one in the outskirts of Muzaffarabad and the other located in Village Dana in Muzaffarabad.
Another completed mosque is Masjid Haji Ibrahim, in Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia. The reason for selecting this particular area was that it was without a permanent mosque for over 5 years following an earthquake in the region. The mosque was moved to a new location so that if another earthquake or flood occurs in the region it will not be damaged.
